About Us

We are Jack and Charlie, brothers who have grown up making our own charcoal for our home barbecues.

We started using a home-made retort, created from salvaged metal drums, which allowed us to make a couple of bags’ worth of charcoal at a time.  However before too long, word got out among our friends about our charcoal and we couldn’t keep up with demand.  We bought a larger retort  and decided to set up in business as Caveman Trading.

This charcoal is sourced from the woodlands we have been lucky enough to grow up in Hampshire.  We are passionate about managing our native British woodlands sustainably.  This is the reason that we will only deliver to our local area, as we want to limit our transport miles.  We take pride in managing our woodlands for wildlife and ensuring that our production processes have minimal impact on the environment.

But what makes our charcoal so special? It's all about the quality. Caveman Charcoal's lumpwood charcoal is carefully selected and seasoned to perfection. This means that you get a consistent burn and a long-lasting heat, allowing you to cook your food to perfection every time. No more worrying about uneven heat distribution or charcoal that burns out too quickly.

Not only does Caveman Charcoal offer a superior product, but as our charcoal is sourced locally,  you are supporting local businesses and reducing your carbon footprint. Plus, by using lumpwood charcoal instead of briquettes, you avoid the chemicals and additives that are often found in other charcoal products.
